Channel 4 has digitised its distribution division to bolster its programme sales arm.

The broadcaster has launched a new website to showcase its UK distribution portfolio and boost sales of second window rights to C4 shows.

The new site features a searchable catalogue with programme information and links to watch clips of shows via 4oD.

This follows a restructure of the distribution division earlier this year that saw it bring together its channel distribution team with its linear channels, VoD services and programme sales teams.

C4 licenses wholly owned series including Queer As Folk and Teachers and also works with indies to sell newer shows such as Studio Lambert’s Four In A Bed and Monkey Kingdom’s Made In Chelsea.

It has previously inked distribution deals in the UK with Scripps Network, which acquired a package of shows fronted by Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver as well as Coach Trip and A Place In The Sun.

Last year London Live also purchased 100 hours of capital focused drama and comedy programming such as Peep Show, Smack The Pony and Spaced.

The project is being led by former Endemol exec Holly Newey, who joined in May as UK secondary sales manager and reports to head of distribution Carl Pfeiffer.

“As well as facilitating our existing relationships with broadcasters, I believe this can help us work with more producers across the sector who are looking to grow revenue,” said Pfeiffer.

“Channel 4 Distribution is a significant part of our commercial activity and it’s great to be able to shout even louder about it.”
